HGST Ships 320GB Endurastar J4K320 Automotive Hard Drive

HGST today announced it is shipping a new Endurastar J4K320 single-platter 320GB hard drive, the highest capacity drive in the Endurastar lineup as well as the largest capacity automotive HDD now on the market. The JK4320 represents the sixth generation of HGST automotive and industrial drive technology, and the second generation to incorporate the company’s proprietary Thermal Fly-height Control technology to improve performance across the broad range of altitude and thermal conditions experienced in the field.


HGST today announced it is shipping a new Endurastar J4K320 single-platter 320GB hard drive, the highest capacity drive in the Endurastar lineup as well as the largest capacity automotive HDD now on the market. The JK4320 represents the sixth generation of HGST automotive and industrial drive technology, and the second generation to incorporate the company’s proprietary Thermal Fly-height Control technology to improve performance across the broad range of altitude and thermal conditions experienced in the field.

Demand for rugged data storage is increasing as onboard automotive systems offer a growing range of functionality for entertainment, navigation, connectivity, security, and vehicle diagnostics. The Endurastar J4K320 operates at 4260RPM, and uses a 9.5mm, 2.5-inch form factor and SATA connectivity which will allow manufacturers and integrators to incorporate the new drive into existing automotive and industrial hardware platforms. HGST has specified the Endurastar J4K320 for altitudes of up to 18,045 feet and temperatures ranging from -22°F to 185°F. The drive features an operating shock tolerance of 300G and a non-operating shock of 800G.

Availability

The HGST Endurastar J4K320 family is now shipping in 320GB, 250GB, 200GB, 100GB, and 80GB capacities.
