HP Adds Persistent Data Protection to HP Atalla Solutions

HP has announced new Atalla solutions, providing new encryption capabilities in addition to information protection and control solutions that safeguard data during its entire life span by supporting data while it is idle, in motion, or in use whether it is located on the cloud, on-site, or in mobile environments. HP Atalla Solutions are specifically designed for organizations that require protection of sensitive information, such as financial institutions, retailers, energy companies, healthcare providers and governments, offering added protection against the exposure of sensitive data while supporting optimal performance and flexibility.

HP Secure Encryption with HP Enterprise Secure Key Manager (ESKM) 4.0 combines and automates encryption controls, helping to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data. HP ESKM 4.0 also helps to the lower costs and complexity that is usually inherit of managing encryption keys across a distributed infrastructure. It achieves this by using consistent security controls, automated key services, and a single point of management. In addition, it integrates with HP hardware solutions, such as HP ProLiant Gen 8 Servers, which secures and manages encryption keys without slowing server performance. HP ESKM 4.0 supports the OASIS Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP).

With its split-key encryption (i.e. combining and splitting keys during the encryption process), HP Atalla Cloud Encryption makes encryption and key management in public, private, and hybrid cloud environments less complicated.  Additionally, users can take advantage of integration with HP Enterprise Secure Key Manager to automatically manage and protect master keys on site in FIPS 140-2 Level 2 validated security appliances.

HP Atalla Information Protection and Control (IPC) software protects data during every stage of its life cycle. The software uses an information-centric encryption method, which applies persistent protection of the data no matter where it is located.

The HP Enterprise Security solution is designed to disrupt threats during all stages its life cycle, manage the risk, and extend customer security capabilities that protect an enterprise. HP Atalla solutions are present at the beginning of the data loss prevention process by encrypting sensitive data soon as it is created as well as blocking an attacker from accessing the keys to unlock it.

Availability

HP Secure Encryption with centralized key management is now globally available by ordering the required HP ProLiant Gen 8 server HP Smart Storage options together with enterprise key management and client licenses from HP Atalla. HP has also indicated that enterprises can retrofit their compatible environments with the required HP Smart Array controllers to leverage this solution.
