HP has announced that DreamWorks Animation has selected HP to automate its IT infrastructure. HP plans to achieve this automation through deploying its HP Datacenter Care – Infrastructure Automation. This deployment will enable DreamWorks to manage its infrastructure as code, which in turn will enable them to continuously deliver applications and services more quickly and reliably.

HP and DreamWorks have had a strong relationship for over a decade. We have previously toured DreamWorks datacenter, where we saw HP servers, arrays, and workstations in use. We had also covered previous announcements where HP and DreamWorks partnered on Mr. Peabody & Sherman and How To Train Your Dragon 2. For all of its animation processes, DreamWorks relies on HP. As DreamWorks looks for faster and more reliable ways to deliver applications and IT services, they once again turn to HP.

Application deployments per month for Fortune 1000 companies are expected to double in the next two years, according to IDC. Through automation, companies can deploy code 30 times more frequently with 50% fewer failures. HP Datacenter Care – Infrastructure Automation will improve reliability and agility for DreamWorks IT environment, with its open source tools, including Chef. Chef’s IT automation platform turns infrastructure into code so datacenter management is versionable, repeatable, and significantly less costly.

HP will help DreamWorks will quickly, reliably, and efficiently transform business ideas into customer value through software development and IT service delivery. DreamWorks will have faster release cycles without interrupting production. With HP’s support, DreamWorks will adopt and scale lean and agile IT.

HP plans to further support DreamWorks with its HP Datacenter Care – Infrastructure Automation global Center of Excellence. This will provide guidance and best practices for infrastructure as code and processes, along with support for tools that automate how DreamWorks Animation builds, deploys, and manages infrastructure. HP will also proactively assess and review tools usage to help identify issues, suggest improvements, and help plan for the future.
