IBM to Acquire Texas Memory Systems and RamSan Product Family

IBM has announced an agreement to acquire Texas Memory Systems (TMS), a privately-held developer of flash memory solutions based in Houston, Texas. IBM’s acquisition includes the TMS RamSan family of shared rackmount systems and PCIe cards. Financial terms of the purchase, which is expected to close later this year, were not disclosed in the announcement.


IBM has announced an agreement to acquire Texas Memory Systems (TMS), a privately-held developer of flash memory solutions based in Houston, Texas. IBM’s acquisition includes the TMS RamSan family of shared rackmount systems and PCIe cards. Financial terms of the purchase, which is expected to close later this year, were not disclosed in the announcement.
Founded in 1978, TMS designs and sells high-performance solid state storage solutions which IBM will incorporate into its Smarter Computing approach to the design and deployment of storage infrastructures. IBM intends to invest in the TMS portfolio and integrate TMS technology over time into a variety of IBM storage, servers, and software, and solutions as well as its PureSystems offerings.
