Intel has announced the availability of the Intel SSD Data Center S3510 Series, expanding on their storage offerings in the Intel SSD Data Center Family to meet the demands for high-performance, high-capacity data stores in the data center. The Intel SSD DC S3510 Series is built to provide cost and power advantages over hard disk drives all the while delivering performance and reliability. As a result, this makes it ideal for read-intensive or virtualized applications in a cloud or data center environment, such as web servers, operational databases and analytics.
The Intel SSD DC S3510 Series is also designed to improve data center performance with read and write throughput speeds up to 500MB/s and 460MB/s as well as 4K random read and write IOPs up to 68,000 and 20,000. In addition, applications will benefit from 55ms typical latency with max read latencies quoted at 500ms. The DC S3510 also boasts low typical active power (less than 5.6 watts), which helps to satisfy the needs of the data center with low total cost of ownership, making it ideal for server or application upgrades.
Intel and VMware have also developed the industry’s first 32-node all-flash Virtual SAN with NVM Express technology in order to show how enterprise customers can deploy this technology cost-effectively.
