Today Intel announced a new high-performance FPGA Programmable Acceleration Card, the Intel FPGA PAC D5005. Currently, Intel is working with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) providing the new card for this ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server. The combination of the two technologies is aimed at address computing-intensive markets such as streaming analytics, media transcoding, financial technology and network security.
Several applications need huge computational capabilities. Data centers don’t want to be pulling from server CPUs or having to fork out the extra cost of adding more compute. An easy fix is to add field programmable gate array-based (FPGA) hardware acceleration. FPGAs can lower TCO while showing increases in performance. Intel’s latest, the D5005, comes with more logic, memory and networking capability than previously before. As the D5005 is qualified for the HPE DL380 Gen10 server, customers can experience the above benefits.
Intel’s FPGA PAC D5005 is based on the company’s Stratix 10 SX FPGA and provides high-performance inline and lookaside workload acceleration to servers based on Intel Xeon Scalable processors using the Intel Acceleration Stack, which includes acceleration libraries and development tools. HPE is the first OEM ot prequalify the new FPGA with their servers.
Workloads developed for the Intel FPGA PAC D5005 include:
