KIOXIA has announced that it is now shipping the CM7 Series enterprise NVMe SSDs to select customers. Featuring the new PCIe Gen5 technology and NVMe 2.0, the new enterprise and data center SSD line is available in both EDSFF E3.S and 2.5-inch form factors. The KIOIXA CM7 Series is designed specifically for 24×7 enterprise and demanding mission-critical workloads.

KIOXIA CM7

The KIOXIA CM7 comes in two different models: the CM7-V, which is designed for mixed-used applications; and the CM7-R, which is meant for more read-intensive use cases. That said, the biggest differences between the two versions are their endurance and available capacity models. The CM7-R features a drive writes per day (DWPD) rating of 3 with available capacity models of 1.6TB, 3.2TB, 6.4TB and 12.8TB. The CM7-R features a DWPD rating of 1 while offering a higher capacity range: 1.92TB, 3.84TB, 7.68TB, 15.36TB, and 30.7TB.

For performance, KIOIXA indicates that the CM7 Series pushes the PCIe 5.0 interface nearly to its limit, quoting up to 14GB/s for read throughput. The CM7 Series is also designed with data integrity protection in mind by offering a range of security and availability features; this includes Flash Die Failure Protection to maintain full reliability during die failures, and TCG-Opal SED hardware encryption technology to secure stored data.

KIOXIA indicates the following highlights for the new CM7 line of enterprise PCIe Gen5 SSDs:

  • EDSFF E3.S and 2.5-inch 15mm Z-height form factors designed to the NVMe 2.0 and PCIe 5.0 specifications
  • SFF-TA-1001 supports Universal Backplane Management enabled systems (also known as U.3)
  • Read-intensive (1 DWPD) capacities up to 30.72TB
  • Mixed-use (3 DWPD) capacities up to 12.80TB
  • Dual-port design for high availability applications
  • Flash Die Failure Protection maintains full reliability in case of a die failure
  • Cutting-edge feature support – SR-IOV, CMB, Multistream writes, SGL
  • TCG-Opal SED feature set that is designed to comply with FIPS 140-3

KIOXIA CM7 Availability

Backed by a 5-year warranty, KIOXIA is currently shipping the CM7 SSDs to select customers.
