As part of CES today, Lenovo announced the new ThinkBook Plus Gen 2 i, a unique dual display notebook, as well as the ThinkBook 13x i, ThinkBook 14p Gen 2, and ThinkBook 16p Gen 2. All of these models will have 16:10 displays, Dolby Atmos display and audio support, and WiFi 6 connectivity. They also announced new and improved Legion gaming notebooks with next-gen RTX mobile GPUs.

Starting with the ThinkBook Plus Gen 2 i, this notebook has a unique dual display, with a traditional IPS 16:10 display inside, and an eInk display on the outside. The second generation of this device increases the size and resolution of the eInk display over the first, boasting a 2560×1600 resolution both inside and out, and a 68% screen-to-to-body ratio, up from last gen’s 48%. Both displays support pen input and multitouch. Specs wise, this machine will be based on the Intel Evo platform with an 11th Gen Core i7 processor, 16GB of LPDDR4x memory, and up to 1TB of Gen4 PCIe SSD storage. It also has Thunderbolt 4 and support for the optional ThinkBook Charging Mat, which can wirelessly charge the device. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 2 i will be available from Q1 2021, starting at $1,549.

The ThinkBook 13x i is one of the slimmest 13-inch business laptops available, according to Lenovo. At under 13mm thick, weighing under 1.2kg (2.65lbs), and a claimed 15 hours of battery life, this device seems to be great for maximum portability. Adding to that, it also sports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. This system will run on an 11th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and either 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR4x memory, and up to 1TB of Gen4 PCIe SSD storage, as well as two Thunderbolt 4 ports for expandability. The ThinkBook 13x i will be available from Q1 2021, starting at $1,199.

On the team red side, the ThinkBook 14p and 16p Gen 2 are running the latest AMD Ryzen Mobile processors and are geared as higher performance, but still very portable machines. Both machines are under 2kg (4.4lbs), have 2x2AX WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5, offer up to 32GB of DDR4 memory, and up to a 1TB PCIe SSD (no word on if they’re Gen 4 or not, but the platform certainly supports it). The 14p has a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display with 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and the 16p moves it up to a 16-inch 2.5K IPS display with 100% sRGB coverage and X-Rite Pantone color calibration. The 16p will also offer optional next-gen NVIDIA GeForce RTX mobile GPUs. Both devices will be available from Q1 2021, with the 14p starting at $849 and the 16p starting at $1,299.

Touching briefly on Lenovo’s Legion gaming notebooks, they announced today the Legion 7, the Legion 5 Pro, the Legion Slim 7, and Legion 5. These models have a wide range, but generally they will feature next-gen NVIDIA GeForce RTX mobile GPUs, the latest AMD Ryzen mobile processors, AI-powered gaming improvements, Lenovo’s Legion Coldfront 3.0 thermal solutions for improved thermals and airflows to keep these powerful systems cool, and optional Killer WiFi 6 AX1650 modules. It’s worth noting, too, the Legion 5 Pro and Legion 7 will offer optional G-SYNC QHD 165Hz screens and Lenovo’s Legion TrueStrike RGB keyboards for an excellent gaming experience. The higher end models will also offer up to 32GB of 3200MHz DDR4 to really bring out the best in the Ryzen CPUs, as well as up to 2TB NVMe PCIe SSDs to store all your games, and a nice-to-have built-in gigabit ethernet. Availability and pricing is as follows: the Legion 7 laptop will start at $1,669.99 and is expected to be available starting June 2021; the Legion Slim 7 laptop is expected to be available May 2021 with no pricing available yet; the Legion 5 Pro laptop will start at $999.99 and is expected to be available starting March 2021; the Legion 5 laptop 15-inch or 17-inch starts at $769.99 and is available starting March 2021; and the IdeaPad Gaming 3 laptop will start at $669.99 and is expected to be available starting June 2021.
