Today Microsoft announced a new offering that provides a high control platform enabling developers and ISVs to build highly scalable and customizable cloud services, Azure Service Fabric. Service Fabric provides the foundational technology that Azure core infrastructure runs on. Service Fabric also powers service such as Skype for Business, InTune, Event Hubs, DocumentDB, Azure SQL Database, and Bing Cortana.
Azure Service Fabric has been in production for over five years. It intrinsically understands the available infrastructure resources and needs of applications, enabling automatically updating, self-healing behavior that is essential to delivering highly available and durable services at hyper-scale. Service Fabric is the technology that Microsoft Azure uses in delivering mission-critical cloud services, not a version of the it but the exact technology.

Availability
While a specific availability date wasn’t given, developers will be given a preview at Microsoft’s BUILD developer’s conference next week (April 29- May 1). Microsoft plans on delivering this solution in the next generation of Windows Server with Linux support in the future.
