Netgear WAX630E – Tri-Band WiFi 6E AP for SMBs

Netgear has introduced the WAX630E, an Insight Cloud Managed Access Point, featuring a new ultra-wide, ultra-fast WiFi frequency band. The WAX630E supports 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands to deliver an aggregate speed of 7.8Gbps WiFi throughput. A 2.5Gbps PoE port and a 1Gbps Ethernet port are supported on the new AP.

The WAX630E delivers low latency by extending the new 6 GHz band with 14 additional 80MHZ channels for expanded spectrum capacity and less congestion. The tri-band WiFi offers 8 streams across the three bands providing more available bandwidth.

With a focus on management and security, the WAX630E provides 8 secure wireless networks (SSIDs) with configurations for separate VLANs and WPA3. With separate VLANs, businesses can keep department access isolated. The new AP is backward compatible with WiFi 6, WiFi 5, and earlier generation devices. In addition to VLANs and WPA3 support, the new AP security features also include WPA2 Enterprise, WPA3 Enterprise and Dynamic VLAN.

Tri-band support allows devices to consume bandwidth based on their configured bands. Most smart devices, such as lights, cameras, and appliances use the 2.4GHz band, while the 5GHz band is typically used by laptops, smartphones, gaming devices, and 8K Smart TVs.

The new WiFi 6E technology more than doubles the 5GHz band. The existing 5GHz APs have a single 160MH channel that everyone is sharing, typically resulting in poor performance and congestion. The Netgear WAX630E delivers up to seven 160MHz channels that alleviate that congestion, outperforming previous AP versions.

Management is key to small businesses and Insight cloud-based management delivers a centralized dashboard with set up, configuration, local and remote management.

The Netgear WAX630E is available for $350. If you want the power adapter, the WAX630EP is $370.
