This week’s News Bits we look at a number of small announcements, small in terms of the content not the impact they have. Excelero’s NVMesh is validated on Broadcom NetXtreme BCM57414 NIC. E8’s X24 leverages Intel Optane SSDs. Attala and Microsemi partner on industry’s first NVMeF compliant with DMTF Redfish and SNIA Swordfish. NodeSource integrates with AppDynamics. WekaIO and Intel demo native scale-out NVMe-oF at FMS. Longsys launches world’s smallest SSD at FMS. Cloudistics releases version 3.2. Marvell ships over 50 million 88SS1074 SATA SSD controllers in 18 months. Cavium supports FC-NVMe standard.
Excelero’s NVMesh Is Validated On Broadcom NetXtreme BCM57414 NIC
Excelero announced that its NVMesh software has been validated to work with the Broadcom NetXtreme BCM57414 25/50Gb Ethernet network interface card (NIC). According to the company, hyperscale data center architects will be able to design an OS-agnostic, turnkey storage solution running on the SmartNIC, avoiding the need for software installs. This would be ideal for Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data analytics, and Artificial Intelligence applications.
E8’s X24 Leverages Intel Optane SSDs
E8 storage announced that it would be leveraging Intel Optane SSDs in its E8-X24 centralized NVMe appliance. This would bring very high performance and ultra-low latency technology together for applications such as real-time analytics. On that note, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange will begin testing the E8-X24 for real-time trading.
Attala & Microsemi Partner On Industry’s First NVMeF Compliant With DMTF Redfish & SNIA Swordfish
Attala Systems and Microsemi Corporation partnered to develop the first NVMeF platform compliant with both DMTF Redfish and SNIA Swordfish specification. The platform combines Attala’s FPGA-based adaptable storage fabric and Microsemi’s Switchtec PCIe storage switches, integrated programmable processor, and enclosure management software. According to the companies, admins will be better able to allocate, monitor, and manage storage without the added OPEX.
NodeSource Integrates With AppDynamics
NodeSource announced that its popular N|Solid product will integrate with AppDynamics application intelligence product. This means that AppDynamics customers will now be able to access Node.js metrics directly from their dashboards to deliver new insights from Node.js applications in a single unified interface.
WekaIO & Intel Demo Native Scale-Out NVMe-oF
At FMS 2017, WekaIO partner with Intel to demonstrate a native scale-out NVMe over Fabrics system. This system leverages Intel’s new ruler form factor SSD and WekaIO’s Matrix software. Combined the two companies were able to hit over 3 million IOPS and over 1PB of capacity in a 1U footprint.
Longsys Launches World’s Smallest SSD
Longsys announced what it is calling the world’s smallest SSD, P900. This new SSD, much like Toshiba’s BG3, leverages HMB to go without DRAM. The SSD measures 11.5 x 13mm, is powered by Marvell’s 88NV1160 DRAM-less controller, comes in capacities ranging from 60GB to 480GB, and is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2018.
Cloudistics Releases Version 3.2
Cloudistics announced the latest version of its enterprise hybrid cloud-computing platform, Cloudistics 3.2. The company is also announcing the release of its Cloudistics Spark Guardian Edition operating system. The new OS meets the strictest government standards including COMMON CRITERIA, FIPS 140-2, Secure Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG), USGV6 (DOD IPv6), USGv6 TESTED PRODUCT LIST, and TAA. The new OS and version 3.2 are available now.
Marvell Ships Over 50 Million 88SS1074 SATA SSD Controllers In 18 Months
Marvell is happy to announce that its 88SS1074 SATA SSD controller has shipped over 50 million units in only 18 months. This is a year over year growth of 385% and highlights Marvell’s strong relationship with SSD vendors as well as the overall growth in the SSD market.
