This week’s News Bits we look at a number of small announcements, small in terms of the content, not the impact they have. We are also adding in the smaller news stories from this year’s CES that we feel are most relevant to our readers. First up is the CES stuff: HyperX releases new DDR4 RAM. Plugable releases new docking station. Phison and Enmotus demonstrate QLC enhancing technology. Cumulus Networks partners with HPE on open networks.
HyperX Releases new DDR4 RAM
HyperX released new DDR4 in its FURY line, the FURY DDR4 and FURY DDR4 RGB Speeds. The new RAM are aimed to be used as upgrades for the new Intel and AMD platforms. The DDR4 will be available 3600MHz and 3733MHz frequency versions and 8GB and 16GB modules.
Plugable Releases New Docking Station
Plugable release its new Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C Docking Station, the TBT3-UDZ. This docking station allows users to connect up to two 4K monitors and up to 100W power delivery. Product Specifications:
Phison & Enmotus Demonstrate QLC Enhancing Technology
Phison and Enmotus announced their MiDrive, a combination of SLC and QLC to give higher performance and capacity to an NVMe SSD. MiDrive is slated as being somewhat different than other drives on the market as the SLC isn’t just used as a cache but the hot data is stored onto the SLC. MiDrive is currently sampling with OEMs.
Cumulus Networks Partners With HPE On Open Networks
Cumulus Networks announced that it has partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) centered around bringing open, highly automated and scalable storage networking solutions to rapidly expanding data centers. Cumulus Linux and NetQ will now be running on HPE’s StoreFabric M-Series Ethernet Switches. The two companies claim that this partnership will provide a flexible networking fabric that is predictable, scalable, and reliable.
