Today Nexsan introduced the latest version of its unified storage system, Unity 2.0. The latest version of the company’s unified storage system now offers up to 40% more performance over the previous model as well as more flexible configurations, and costs savings up to 36%. Unity 2.0 is available in both all-flash models, for the performance minded, as well as hybrid models for those needing more capacity.
The new generation comes with a completely new design all around performance, management, flexibility, and cost savings. Unity 2.0 will leverage the latest Intel Xeon Processor E5 v4 Family as well as more RAM which will give it more IOPS and lower latency. From a flexibility standpoint, the new system has added ports, connectivity options, and the support of SMB 3.0. The above-mentioned benefits combined with the new design makes the latest hybrid models with similar configurations up to one third less expensive compared to the previous models.
A big advancement with this announcement is the inclusion of an all-flash version. Not only does this enable Nexsan to keep up with a market that is heading in an all-flash direction, it also gives the most demanding workloads ran on Unity the performance that they need. Nexsan has optimized the SSDs used with advanced data reduction that it states will bring the effective usable price down below $1/GB. The all-flash versions of Unity 2.0 supports 1.92TB, 3.84TB, and 7.68TB SSDs. Hybrid configurations are still available and they mix DRAM and SSDs for HDD caching and can scale up to 5PB.
On top of the new version and all-flash capabilities, Nexsan is also announcing that it has deployed over 100 systems and generated millions of dollars in revenue since September 2016.
