Today at SC20, NVIDIA announced the next generation of its NVIDIA Mellanox 400G InfiniBand. This acceleration platform is all about giving AI developers and scientific researchers the fastest networking performance available to take on the world’s most challenging problems. With the seventh generation of Mellanox InfiniBand is stated as delivering the ultra-low latency and doubles data throughput needed for modern applications.

Computing requirement continue to grow, exponentially in the cases of things that fall under the SC20 umbrella. With this growth data scientists need their equipment to keep up. NVIDIA states that its NVIDIA Mellanox NDR 400G InfiniBand offers 3x the switch port density and boosts AI acceleration power by 32x. The company goes on to claim that it surges switch system aggregated bi-directional throughput 5x, to 1.64 petabits per second, enabling users to run larger workloads with fewer constraints.

As with some of the other products announced today, several manufactures will be integrating NVIDIA Mellanox 400G InfiniBand into their enterprise and HPC products including Atos, Dell Technologies, Fujitsu, Inspur, Lenovo, and Supermicro.

Availability

The new Mellanox InfiniBand architecture solutions are expected to start sampling in the second quarter of 2021.
