NVIDIA has announced NVIDIA GRID 2.0 with broad industry support, helping it to deliver the most graphics-intensive applications to any connected device. Major server vendors, such as Cisco, Dell, HP and Lenovo, have all qualified the GRID 2.0 to run on 125 server models. To achieve this, NVIDIA collaborated with both Citrix and VMware, which resulted in a superior graphics experience to end-users on virtualization platforms. This is significant release by NVIDIA, as virtualizing enterprise workflows has previously suffered from low performance, poor user experience and limited server and application support.
NVIDIA indicates that their GRID 2.0 brings extraordinary performance, efficiency and flexibility improvements for virtualized graphics in enterprise workflows, allowing employees to work from practically anywhere without experiencing any delay when downloading files. In addition, IT departments can offer instant access to powerful applications, improving resource allocation to their workers. Data can also be more securely stored, as it lives in a central server and not individual systems.
NVIDIA GRID 2.0 integrates the GPU into the data center with the following features indicated by NVIDIA:
