Seagate BarraCuda SSD Announced

Seagate has announced the newest addition to their BarraCuda portfolio, simply dubbed the BarraCuda SSD. Designed for speed, reliability and versatility, this affordable 2.5” form factor SATA 6GB/s drive is built for everyday computer use and for those looking to upgrade their system to solid-state technology.


Seagate has announced the newest addition to their BarraCuda portfolio, simply dubbed the BarraCuda SSD. Designed for speed, reliability and versatility, this affordable 2.5” form factor SATA 6GB/s drive is built for everyday computer use and for those looking to upgrade their system to solid-state technology.

As far as performance goes, Seagate claims a decent 540MB/s and 520MB/s in sequential reads and writes, respectively, with a potential to hit 90,000 IOPS in random reads. The BarraCuda SSD also includes reliability features such as 1.8M hours MTBF, up to 1092 TBW, a 5-year warranty, and access to the company’s Global Technical Support. In addition, the BarraCuda SSD comes in a range capacity options (250GB, 500GB, 1TB and 2TB) and features ultra-low power mode support for reduced power consumption.

Availability

Seagate indicates that their new SSD will be exclusively available through Amazon starting on Prime Day 2018. After that, it will be generally available sometime in September 2018.
