Today LaCie, the premium brand from Seagate Technology, announced two new storage solutions targeting creative professionals and prosumers at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) 2019 show. The first is the LaCie Rugged RAID Shuttle, which is ruggedized to handle the rigors of regular shipping or travel. The second is the LaCie 2big RAID with USB and Thunderbolt compatibility.

LaCie Rugged RAID Shuttle is the next iteration of the brand’s fourteen years old Rugged lineup. The Rugged RAID Shuttle continues to sport the lines characteristic orange rubber shell. Even with the extra height of the shell, it can still easily fit in a backpack or shipping envelope, make it well suited for frequent mailing or use outdoors. It offers up to 250MB/s in RAID0 for performance, and RAID1 for data redundancy, configured through the LaCie Toolkit. The drive also features Seagate Secure Hardware Encryption with password protection to help keep your sensitive data protected from unauthorized access or intellectual property theft. Should you wish to pair it to your mobile devices, the drive offers USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5Gb/s) technology with USB-C connector compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and is backward compatible with USB 3.0

The LaCie 2big RAID is aimed at creative professionals with seriously data-intensive projects. Units offer up to 16TB of capacity for desktop storage utilizing Seagate’s IronWolf Pro drives. Much like the Shuttle version, users can transfer footage with speeds of up to 440MB/s over USB-C connection that is compatible with Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gb/s), and legacy USB 3.0.

Availability

  • LaCie Rugged RAID Shuttle will be available in May with an MSRP $529.99.
  • LaCie 2big RAID is available this month with MSRPs of $419 (4TB), $529 (8TB), and $739 (16TB).
