HP has announced updates to its HP Z6 and Z8 G4 Workstations with the new Intel Xeon Scalable processors and Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory technology. With this new support, the HP Z6 and Z8 G4 will be able to combine the necessary memory and storage for compute-intensive workflows such as machine learning, multi-media and VFX.

HP states that using their Optane DC memory will significantly improve system performance by moving large datasets closer to the CPU. It will also make it persistent, which, as a result, protects data from being lost during sudden power cycles or application closures. HP adds that this technology will improve workflows and virtually eliminate downtime.

Originally released in late 2017, the HP Z6 G4 is a powerful workstation designed for editing 8k video in real-time and rendering workloads. It is equipped with two next generation Intel Xeon processors for a grand total of up to 48 total processor cores in one system. The Z6 G4 also comes with professional NVIDIA and AMD graphics as well as an impressive 384GB of memory. HP has built the Z6 G4 to scale with organizations and users and has wide range of configuration options.

HP touts the HP Z8 G4 Workstation as the most powerful workstation on the market. It comes with an impressive 56 (up to) processing cores and up to 3TB of high-speed memory. It is designed to excel in complex 3D simulations, demanding VFX workflows and advanced machine learning algorithms. The Z8 G4 is also equipped with 24 memory slots supporting so developers can effectively handle massive data sets and features a choice of 1125W, 1450W and 1700W and 90 percent efficient power supplies.

Pricing and availability

The HP Z6 and Z8 G4 Workstations with new Intel Xeon processors are available now for a starting price of $2,372 and $2,981, respectively.
