With this acquisition, StorCentric adds software-defined NVMe, high-performance storage to its portfolio. This rounds out the enterprise workload demands, making StorCentric more of a one-stop-shop.

We’ve been covering Violin for a long time. Back in the Violin Memory days they were one of the early pioneers into the all-flash space and kept turning out good products along the way. The company had early promise but through a series of events it began to suffer a bit and in 2017 they went out of business. A year later they rose from the ashes as Violin Systems a year later, with different deployment and pricing models. The company also shifted to a more software-based architecture versus a hardware-based one.
Now with Violin under their wing, StorCentric will be able to offer even more options to their customers. Customers should be able to address most storage needs now with StorCentric and they will continue to invest in Violin’s pioneering all-flash technology development. StorCentric also states that day-to-day sales contacts, operations and customer support at Violin will remain intact.
