Today Supermicro announced the launch of the SYS-5049A-T, a new solution expanding it’s high-performance SuperWorkstation System Portfolio. This server-grade high-end workstation is fully-configurable and joins a range of other solutions supporting dynamic computational workloads for demanding requirements found in scientific research, deep learning (DL), artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and 3-D modeling with real-time simulation. Supermicro’s SuperWorkstations are optimized for applications requiring powerful computational or graphics capabilities including rendering, image processing, and engineering tasks and can be purpose built for many industries. The new solution announced today features significant performance improvements over previous system platforms.
The SYS-5049A-T is highly configurable with significant memory capacity, multi-GPU, and ultra-fast NVMe storage support. The single processor platform leverages 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, supporting up to 28 cores and built in AI acceleration from Intel DL Boost.

With today’s newest solution added to their portfolio Supermicro now has nearly 20 unique SuperWorkstations with a range of specifications. Systems have either single- or dual-processor platforms, robust memory capacity – up to 4 DDR4-2933MHz memory in 12 DIMM slots, 7 PCI-E 3.0 slots for GPU/Coprocessor, dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, and single 10 Gigabit LAN port. The takeaway from the solution announced today, the SYS-5049A-T, is that it is a single processor platform with a high core count, significant memory capacity, multi-GPU, and supports ultra-fast NVMe storage.
