Synology announced the new DiskStation DS411, a more cost-effective version of the DiskStation DS411+II and successor to the DS410, packing a 1.6Ghz processor, 512MB of RAM, and four 3.5-inch hard drive bays. Offering RAID5 transfer speeds up to 105MB/s read and 48MB/s write, the DS411 is designed to handle most duties in a small-business or workgroup environment.

As with all other Synology NAS models, the DS411 will also include the award-winning DSM 3.1 software for easy data management. Synology’s DSM includes support for many mobile platforms including iOS and Android, with applications for music and file streaming. Synology lists a retail price of under $500 on the new DiskStation DS411, with retailers starting to sell the model now.
