Teradata has released the latest version of its Appliance for Hadoop, version 5. Version 5 is unique as it is the industry’s first configurable platform for Hadoop. On top of that it also provides customers with the choice of Hadoop from either Hortonworks (HDP 2.3) or Cloudera (Cloudera Enterprise 5.4). The latest version of Teradata Appliance for Hadoop will give customers the flexibility to accelerate time-to-value and reduce Hadoop cost of ownership.
Teradata Appliance for Hadoop version 5 aims to resolve some of the challenges companies have in implementing Hadoop. Customers now have a choice of deployment from either Cloudera or Hortonworks. It is the industry’s first configurable appliance for Hadoop. This allows customers to meet specific needs for capacity and performance. Users will be able to speed Hadoop deployments while reducing total cost of ownership while facilitating integration with the Teradata Unified Data Architecture.

In addition, the Teradata Appliance for Hadoop is integrated within the Teradata UDA with the high-speed InfiniBand interconnect to the Teradata data warehouse and the Teradata Aster platforms. This enables faster data movement when using Teradata QueryGrid to push down processing and consolidate analytic output in a single query.

Availability
Teradata Appliance for Hadoop version 5 is expected to be available at the end of the third quarter, 2015.
