Today Toshiba America Electronic Components (TAEC) announced the launch of a new series of HDDs for NAS Platform OEMs, the MN07 Series. This new series of HDDs are 3.5” form factor and come in capacities of 12TB and 14TB. The new drives leverage Toshiba’s 9-disk helium-sealed technology that results in a 55% improvement in power efficiency.
The new MN07 Series is designed for NAS appliances that have 8 or more drive bays. The new HDDs are good for both NAS file and object storage applications requiring disk drives with workload ratings of up to 180TB per year. For performance in multi-disk NAS appliances, the new HDDs come with vibration compensation technology. The MN07 Series also offers AT 512e sector technology, 1 million hours MTTF, and compatibility with third-party 3.5” NAS enclosures.
