Unitrends has announced Forever Cloud, a new off-site storage option that provides customers with infinite data retention in the cloud. Coupled with Unitrends Recovery-Series and Unitrends Enterprise Backup (UEB), Forever Cloud gives customers the ability to copy on-premise backups to the highly available Unitrends Cloud and retain that data for an infinite number of years.

Unitrends’ Forever Cloud also allows customers to seamlessly keep specific data on-premise for short-term retention and rapid recovery needs, all the while moving backup copies that are required for long-term retention to the cloud. As a result, Unitrends indicates that this will remove the inconvenience of long-term retention management and allows organizations to reduce capital expenses and operating costs by taking advantage of a hybrid cloud storage model.

Forever Cloud stores a set of daily, weekly and monthly backups as well as an infinite number of annual backups for one base price. As such, Unitrends states that customers can simply pay for the amount of protected data and not for the amount of cloud storage consumed, the latter which contains costs over time.
