Today at VeeamON in Las Vegas, NV, Veeam Software announced Veeam Backup for Linux. Veeam Backup for Linux is a standalone agent that delivers backup and recovery for Linux servers running on either the cloud or on premises while ensuring the availability of Linux server instances. This free tool can be used to backup cloud instances and restore them on premises or vice versa.

75% of enterprises report that they use Linux for the cloud. While Linux is widely used it is difficult to backup and recovery, in turn it puts the availability of the Linux servers at risk. As more organizations run their workloads in the cloud the need for backup and recovery are more important than ever. Veeam Backup for Linux gives companies a free, easy-to-use tool to ensure the availability of their Linux cloud instances and restore them anywhere.

Benefits include:

  • Backup anywhere: Back up Linux instances running in the cloud or on premises.
  • Flexible recovery: Perform on-premises restores from backups of individual cloud instances, or cloud
restores of on-premises backups.
  • Integration with Veeam Backup & Replication v9: Take full advantage of Veeam backup repositories as
target locations; leverage existing Veeam Backup & Replication capabilities for granular recovery.

Availability

A closed beta version of Veeam Backup for Linux will be available in the first half of 2016 on a first come, first serve
basis.
