Today Violin Memory Inc. launched two new starter kits that are geared toward getting customers to migrate toward all flash data centers and the benefits that come along with it, such as increased performance and high availability. Both starter kits feature Violin’s Flash Storage Platform (FSP) 7700 and have two different focuses, scalability and stretch cluster. The FSP 7700 is fully-integrated with Violin’s Concerto OS 7.

The 7700 FSP all-flash array is Violin's high-end modular array. The 7700 FSP is designed for and aimed at larger businesses and enterprises that have multi-petabyte and multi-site deployments. Customers who have Violin's 6000 and 7000 all-flash array series can upgrade to 7700 FSP and take advantage of all its new benefits including Concerto OS 7 and Symphony 3. Both Starter kits are built off of the 7700 and are aimed at giving customers a way to add flash to the data center while maintaining the ability to scale storage when needed. The starter kits enable customers to take advantage of all-flash arrays (AFA) on a smaller scale, 70TB raw, and scaling up to 1.4PB if needed all with performance up to 2+ million IOPS.

The Scalable Starter Kit comes with the above mention performance and capacity along with consistent sub-millisecond latency. If users need more capacity it is as easy as adding additional Violin arrays.

The Violin Scalable Starter Kit includes:

  • Two Violin FSP 7700 Modular Scalable Array Controllers
  • Two switches
  • Two all-flash arrays with a total 70TB of raw flash capacity (35TB per shelf)
  • Violin Concerto OS 7 and Symphony Management Software

The Stretch Cluster Starter Kit is designed to help data centers survive a catastrophic event without business impact. Built upon Violin’s comprehensive data protection technology, the Stretch Cluster Starter Kit delivers synchronous mirroring of all selected LUNs across geographically dispersed locations. With support for zero Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO), a Violin FSP 7700 Stretch Cluster is designed to keep a business running.

The Violin Stretch Cluster Starter Kit includes:

  • Two Violin FSP 7700 Modular Scalable Array Controllers
  • Four switches
  • Two all-flash arrays with a total 70TB of raw flash capacity (35TB per site)
  • Violin Concerto OS 7 and Symphony Management Software
  • Stretch Cluster License
