VMware Explore 2022 – What to Look For

VMworld has been renamed VMware Explore this year. I, along with Kevin and Tom are excited that we will be able to attend in person!  VMware Explore 2022 will be held inside the newly revamped Moscone Center in San Francisco from August 29 to September 1.

VMworld has been renamed VMware Explore this year. I, along with Kevin and Tom are excited that we will be able to attend in person!  VMware Explore 2022 will be held inside the newly revamped Moscone Center in San Francisco from August 29 to September 1.

Of course, we will be attending many media/influencer briefings and reporting on them and posting on social media. Big hint, if you’re a vSAN customer, you’re going to want to pay attention next week. We will also be sitting in on some technical sessions as well. The ones that really got us excited are around, not surprisingly, storage. There are over 50 storage-specific sessions this year at VMware Explore 2022, so we will be splitting up and trying to hit as many of them as possible.

We’re expecting vSAN to make substantive changes for the first time since it was launched in the way it handles caching. I am thinking that between Deconstructing vSAN – A Deep Dive into the Internals of vSAN [INDB2406USD] and  Get to Know the Next-Generation of vSAN Architecture [CEIB2172US] we should be able to get a handle on this change and how it will affect the reliability and performance of vSAN.

We have been keeping our eyes on Data processing units (DPUs) for the past couple of years and feel like they will have a major impact on data centers in the near future as they will enable composable data centers which will allow greater flexibility and performance. VMware is trying to be at the forefront of this change with Project Monterey which they announced a few VMworld’s ago. We will attend The Future of IT Infrastructure Is Here – The Evolution of Project Monterey [CEISB2916USS] to see what direction VMware is headed with DPUs.

At Explore we’ll also be hitting the expo floor, seeing what’s going on with the ecosystem. Expect videos and photos across our social media platforms, linked below. Tom, our resident VDI expert, and thin client reviewer are co-presenting an Expo Theater Session entitled Improve Remote Work Experience With Last-Mile Monitoring From ControlUp [EUS2540USS] for ControlUp and has three TechTalks that you will want to see.

In the past, we have been known to do ad-hoc meet-n-greets at local dive bars so keep your eyes on our socials if you want to meet and have a beer or two or three with the people behind StorageReview.com!
