VMware Integrated HPE vSAN ReadyNodes Announced

This week, VMware announced a new partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE): the Integrated HPE vSAN ReadyNodes. This alliance intends to deliver a superior hyperconverged infrastructure customer experience. vSAN is VMware’s software-defined storage product that pools direct-attached storage devices across a VMware vSphere server virtualization cluster.  Now, HPE supports, certifies, and offers VMware vSAN ReadyNode configurations based on HPE ProLiant servers.

VMware indicates that the partnership provides a more integrated experience, including ease of procurement, lifecycle management simplicity, and single source of support for vSAN powered HCI. Starting with procurement, Integrated HPE vSAN ReadyNode on ProLiant now come with all necessary software factory pre-installed: VMware vSphere, VMware vSAN, VMware vCenter for unified management, and VMware Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) compliant firmware.

With the lifecycle management simplicity, Day 1 operations get support by creating an easy, automated, and guided HCI system and clusters. Customers can also use the workflow on new or existing vCenter deployments, as well as the new vSphere lifecycle management tool for HCI cluster updates, vSphere Lifecycle Manager. Another thing to highlight in this area is the possibility for customers to monitor the status of their HPE ProLiant servers from vCenter.

“Customers want to focus their resources on innovation, not routine tasks, so we’re proud of the integration we’ve done with VMware to deliver simplified lifecycle management and single source support,” said Shin-Wen Kuo at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Finally, for Integrated HPE vSAN ReadyNode with VMware vSAN, customers now receive HPE-based support for all Level 1 and Level 2 requests, with a handoff to VMware support for Level 3 software support requests.

HPE vSAN ReadyNodes are built and available on HPE ProLiant DL360, HPE ProLiant DL380, and HPE ProLiant DL325. More resources and specifications can be found in both VMware and HPE websites.
