Today, Cloudian released HyperIQ. HyperIQ is a software tool to help customers better monitor their usage of Cloudian storage services. Cloudian was founded in 2011 and primarily focuses on providing file and object storage software, although they recently spun off an edge AI-focused subsidiary.

Cloudian HyperIQ extends Cloudian’s existing services in several important ways. The main service HyperIQ provides is monitoring resource utilization in real-time. This data can be broken down by data center, node, or individual application. Cloudian’s new monitoring software exposes the data it collects through a customizable dashboard. The dashboard is preconfigured to display the information that Cloudian thinks will be most useful. However, they recognize that not everyone has the same use cases. The software allows customers to mix and match over 100 different data panels to display whatever resource monitoring information they find most important. The information the software tracks includes uploads/downloads, API usage, S3 transactions, request sizes, and HTTP response codes.

In addition to the user-customizable dashboard, Cloudian’s new monitoring software also provides a notification system. HyperIQ can be configured to provide notifications through multiple third-party notification channels such as Slack, OpsGenie, Kafka, and PagerDuty. It’s unusual to see such extensive support of third-party channels and is a very welcome feature. It should make integrating the software into existing workflows much easier than would otherwise be the case. The software also supports sending alerts on hardware failures or creating support tickets to be addressed later.

The initial release of Cloudian HyperIQ comes in two flavors. The first flavor is free for Clouldian HyperStore customers, everyone’s favorite. The free version is HyperIQ Basic, which includes preconfigured dashboards. HyperIQ Enterprise is licensed by capacity at 0.025 cents per GB per month. For this cost, customers get access to advanced analytics features and support.
