WD has announced the availability of the My Book Duo, the newest addition to its line of desktop storage solutions for the home and office. Equipped with two drives, hardware-level RAID, and USB 3.0, the My Book Duo offers consumers the capacity and file transfer speeds that are absent from single-drive solutions. The My Book Duo also ships with software that creates secure local, cloud and system-level backups for complete data protection and is available in 4TB, 6TB, and 8TB capacities.
My Book Duo’s dual-drive design is equipped with USB 3.0, boasting transfer speeds up to 290MB/s. The WD solution comes preconfigured in RAID0 for maximum performance and capacity. It also offers users the ability configure the device to mirror mode (RAID 1) for increased data protection as well as the JBOD configuration to enable the use of drives individually.
The My Book Duo’s bundled software offers various forms of data protection with local, cloud, and system-level backup through WD SmartWare Pro backup and Acronis True Image WD Edition. The automatic and continuous settings within WD SmartWare Pro provide users with easy-to-use file and folder backup options. Additionally, the My Book Duo offers multiple data protection and access benefits to Dropbox account users. Dropbox data can be securely backed up to the local hard drive and integrated cloud backup to Dropbox accounts with WD SmartWare Pro, which provides safe, offsite storage of critical files. The My Book Duo also provides users wutg 256-bit AES hardware encryption and password protection for additional hardware and software security.
My Book Duo ships with a user-serviceable enclosure as well as a USB hub located on the back of the device, which allows for the connection of mobile phones, tablets, and more for charging or data transfer.
