Crucial has announced the immediate availability of new Crucial X6 portable SSD, an ultra-sleek, compact drive ideal for those on the go or in the field and who need instant, high-performing access to their digital content without an internet connection. The X6 is also ideal for storing photo and movie libraries and games. Available in capacities 1TB and 2TB capacities, the new X6 is quoted to deliver read speeds up to 540MB/s via the USB 3.1 Gen-2 interface. Crucial also indicates that their new tiny external drive is drop-proof up to 6.5 feet and is resistant to shock, vibration and extreme temperatures. The X6 is the second portable SSD released by Micron, the first being the Crucial X8, which is a more premium drive with faster performance and a higher price tag.

The X6 supports the latest USB-C devices, including Windows, Mac, iPad Pro, and Android devices. When using the Crucial USB-C to USB-A adapter, the Crucial X6 is also compatible with PS4, Xbox One and other USB-A devices.
Weighing in at just 42 grams, and just 6.9cm in width and 1.1cm in length, the Crucial X6 is a seriously compact device and can easily fit larger pockets. It’s also backed by a 3-year warranty.
The Crucial X6 is available now at roughly $285 and $155 for the 2TB and 1TB models, respectively.
