Dell has announced new performance and capability updates to its PowerEdge 13th generation four-socket server portfolio, a line that is specifically designed for enterprise customers that have large scale server deployments. The PowerEdge 13th generation four-socket servers enhance performance for big data and real-time analytics, as well as dense virtualization deployments, while promoting flexibility, scalability and manageability needed for a future-ready enterprise. We recently reviewed the Dell PowerEdge 13G R730 Server.
First is the PowerEdge R930, which leverages the new Intel Xeon processor E7-8800 v4 family to help customers effectively deploy database intensive applications with the ability to seamlessly scale up and better manage infrastructure and mission-critical workload delivery.
Dell indicates the following features of the PowerEdge R930 line:
Next, is the 2U rack server PowerEdge R830, which is a foundational four-socket rack server specifically built to excel in database applications, scale-out virtualization and VDI environments and ideal for mainstream and mid-market customers standardized on a rack form factor. The R830 also features the Intel Xeon processor E5-4600 v4 product family.
Featuring four processors and up to 48 DIMMS, Dell indicates the following features of the PowerEdge R830:
Dell’s four-socket server portfolio gives their customers the choice of a platform that best supports their data center density, scalability, manageability and flexibility needs. Dell has also announced that it will be updating its PowerEdge FX2 and PowerEdge M1000e converged platforms with the PowerEdge FC830 and the PowerEdge M830 blade servers, which feature the Intel Xeon processor E5-4600 v4 family.
Dell’s PowerEdge FC830 is a full-width, four-socket compute node for the PowerEdge FX architecture. The FC830 gives organizations the ability to easily and quickly configure complete workloads using modular building blocks of IT resources. Dell claims that this converged platform boasts twice the four-socket density of any other available solution on today’s market, adding that, as a result, it is ideal for Oracle RAC or dense four-socket deployments.
Availability
The PowerEdge R930, 4S/4U rack sever is now available while the PowerEdge R830 rack server and PowerEdge FC830 and M830 blade servers are slated for a later release in June.
