Today Dell Technologies announced an update to its Dell EMC for Microsoft Azure Stack portfolio with the launch of a new offering, the Dell EMC Integrated System for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI. According to Dell, this new system is design to do one thing, optimize the operational experience of Microsoft’s next generation of Azure Stack HCI. The new offering is an all-in-one, validated HCI system with intelligently integrated foundation from Dell Technologies.

The Cloud redefined IT a few years ago and seemed to hold endless possibilities. More giant clouds hit the market with various strengths. Smaller private clouds also starting popping up everywhere leading to hybrid and multi-cloud strategies. This created a cloud sprawl that soon was bringing its own set of challenges. An IT department would need to know how to leverage each of these different technologies for the best possible benefits. Better tools are needed to manage and optimize the various technologies.

Azure Stack HCI was announced a bit ago, with a major new release earlier this year, it is an on-premise implementation of their Azure cloud service. The stack lives on-premises but it is integrated with Azure and comes with Azure security, performance, and features. It is now delivered as an Azure service. Dell Technologies is now offering its Dell EMC Integrated System for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI to further optimize the Azure Stack HCI.

As servers are the underlaying infrastructure of traditional HCI, Dell has taken its Dell EMC PowerEdge servers and tailored them specifically to meet the needs of software-defined solutions. The company states that it is not just the server that is designed to be optimal for Azure Stack HCI, but every part including chassis, drive, DIMM, processor and adapter. The new offering operates with tools such as Windows Admin Center, PowerShell, and the Azure portal. On top of that, Dell has simplified deployment and full stack lifecycle management experience through the OpenManage Integration for Windows Admin Center. They stat that this reduces manual tasks by up to 82%.

Availability

In the first quarter of 2021 the Dell EMC Integrated System for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI will be available in the AX-640 and AX-740xd configurations.
