Today at VMworld 2015, the EMC Federation gave a preview to updates for its Enterprise Hybrid Cloud solution along with a new End-User Computing Solution. The Enterprise Hybrid Cloud will be available through EMC business partners, when they reach “Federation Ready” credentials. The Federation is also previewing the first ever, unified IoT solution.

The Enterprise Hybrid Cloud solution combines integrated hardware, software, and services from EMC Information Infrastructure, VMware, and VCE and is designed to unite the strengths of private and public cloud and drives business agility by empowering users to easily procure applications and resources whenever they need them with the service levels they choose. The hybrid cloud solution enables IT-as-a-Service, giving customers better efficiencies in traditional IT functions and service workflows as well as cost savings that some are reporting as high as $50 million within five years.

The new enhancements include:

  • Application lifecycle automation capabilities – designed to deliver continuous app development integration and deployment, so that the business can deliver new services as soon as code is ready on both vSphere and OpenStack environments.
  • Always-on and secure Infrastructure as a Service – designed to offer end users the flexibility to apply and modify a full continuum of data protection and security services to their workloads and applications in just a few clicks including high availability, disaster recovery, backup, encryption and more at initial provisioning or as the workload’s requirements change over time.
  • New deployment options with the VCE VxRack System – offering a new hyper-converged infrastructure choice designed to help accelerate initial hybrid cloud deployment while enabling a simple means for customers to “pay as they grow” by independently scaling out compute and storage by the node for better economics. Customers will also be able to employ high performance workload consolidation storage options with new support for the EMC XtremIO all flash array.

The EMC Federation also announced its new Federation End-User Computing solutions. These solutions are designed to designed to eliminate the complexity of delivering desktops and applications to any device, anywhere with the ability to scale to thousands of end-users. The first solution released will give customers the choice of whether to use their existing infrastructure or to leverage the Enterprise Hybrid Cloud for deployment. The solution is optimized for VDIs to be stored on EMC XtremIO and for the end-user data to be stored on EMC VNX and EMC Isilon storage. The solution also includes VMware’s Horizon Enterprise Suite.

Availability

The EMC Federation End-User Computing solutions will be available in the third quarter of 2015 and will be available for EMC Business partners in the fourth quarter of 2015.
