Emulex today announced its OneConnect OCe14000 family of 10Gb and 40Gb Ethernet Virtual Network Adapters based on the company’s new Emulex Engine 100 controller. OCe14000 adapters are engineered for multi-tenant cloud environments, highly virtualized and converged infrastructures, and I/O intensive applications. Emulex Engine 100 controllers power Emulex’s Virtual Network Exceleration offload technology (VNeX) with concurrent stateless TCP offload support.
OCe1400 adapters use Emulex’s XE100 controller series, which can power quad-port 10GbE or single-port 40GbE interfaces for integrated and converged infrastructures. The XE100 allows hardware accelerated storage and concurrent protocol offload support for Fibre Channel over Ethernet and iSCSI. VNeX can reduce CPU overhead and network reconfiguration time inside cloud while preserving stateless TCP offload configurations. Emulex VNeX enables virtual workload mobility with support for Microsoft’s Network Virtualization using Generic Routing Encapsulation (NVGRE) and supports VMware’s Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN). VNeX also integrates with VMware NetQueue and Microsoft Dynamic VMQ to increase virtual machine density.
VNeX also accelerates virtual networks by offloading header encapsulation from the host to the network controller. RDMA over Converged Ethernet allows application and storage acceleration with support for Windows Server SMB Direct and Linux NFS protocols.
