Today at the OpenStack Summit in Boston, MA, Fujitsu Limited and Mirantis announced that the two companies have signed a global, strategic collaboration agreement on delivering a private cloud. This open cloud infrastructure is based on OpenStack and related open source technologies such as Kubernetes.

Last month at DockerCon, Mirantis revealed its Mirantis Cloud Platform (MCP) 1.0. MCP is a commercially-supported distribution of OpenStack and Kubernetes, and is delivered in a single, integrated package. The two companies will help deliver the MCP through Fujitsu’s hardware, software, and support capabilities. Through the agreement, Fujitsu will embrace Mirantis’ build-operate-transfer delivery model.

Mirantis’ operations-centric approach works by allowing the open infrastructure is continuously delivered with an operations SLA through a managed service or by the customer themselves. This way, software updates no longer happen once every 6-12 months, but are introduced in minor increments on a weekly basis and with no down time.

Availability

The Mirantis Cloud Platform will be added to Fujitsu’s other private cloud offerings starting in June 2017, in Japan before being followed up in other regions.
