G-Technology Now Shipping The G-DRIVE, G-DRIVE Mobile, and G-DRIVE PRO Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 Drives

G-Technology has announced that it is now shipping its new G-DRIVE with Thunderbolt and G-DRIVE mobile with Thunderbolt external storage solutions. These two new drives are specifically designed for consumers and professionals looking for one of the fastest desktop or mobile Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 storage solutions on the market. Both G-DRIVES are equipped with a high-performance 7,200 RPM hard drive, sport a sleek, durable aluminum enclosure, and are plug-and-play ready for the Mac (easily reformatted for Windows).


G-Technology has announced that it is now shipping its new G-DRIVE with Thunderbolt and G-DRIVE mobile with Thunderbolt external storage solutions. These two new drives are specifically designed for consumers and professionals looking for one of the fastest desktop or mobile Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 storage solutions on the market. Both G-DRIVES are equipped with a high-performance 7,200 RPM hard drive, sport a sleek, durable aluminum enclosure, and are plug-and-play ready for the Mac (easily reformatted for Windows).

The new 4TB G-DRIVE with Thunderbolt is a high-performance storage solution equipped with both Thunderbolt and a USB 3.0 interfaces, delivering up to 165MB/s sustained data transfer rates. Additionally, it features an integrated heat-sink, which allows for a cool and quiet operation, making it the ideal for storage-intensive applications such as audio/video editing or digital photography. Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 cables are included. 

The G-DRIVE mobile with Thunderbolt (up to 1TB in capacity) is a high-performance portable storage solution for users who are always on the go. The G-DRIVE mobile is also bus-powered so that laptop users do not need to carry around an extra AC power supply. Additionally, the new drive boasts up to 136MB/s sustained data transfer rates using Thunderbolt or USB 3.0.  It also ships with Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 cables and is Time Machine compatible for quick backups.

G-Technology also announced that the G-DRIVE PRO with Thunderbolt is now shipping. This new drive is based on G-Technology’s high-quality G-DRIVE design and gives independent professionals and other small production studios a more cost-effective, efficient storage solution for supporting 2K and 4K digital cinema as well as 2K DLSR/photography and other digital content creation workflows. The PRO delivers data transfer rates of up to 480MB/s and easily transportable for editing in the field or in the studio. It also has dual Thunderbolt ports for daisy-chaining with other Thunderbolt-enabled devices.

Pricing and Availability

The G-DRIVE PRO is available in 2TB and 4TB capacities for a MSRP of $699.95 and $849.95 respectively. The G-DRIVE with Thunderbolt is now available at $399.95 for the 4TB and $299.95 for 3TB. The 1TB G-DRIVE mobile with Thunderbolt is also now available for $219.95.
