Back in August, HPE (then branded HP) introduced its cost-effective Hyperconverged appliance the HPE HC-250 StoreVirtual. The initial release saw a 4-node followed quickly by the release of a 3-node configuration. HPE has now announced that they are releasing an even more cost-effective 2-node version of the HC-250 that is aimed at SMB and ROBO deployments.
The 2-node configuration of the HC-250 is pre-integrated with either the VMware software stack and HPE hardware, with a release of Microsoft's software stack coming in the future. HPE states that it can be quickly deployed through the HPE OneView InstantOn wizard. Being hyperconverged, the HC-250 consolidates hardware, storage and management into a single interface making it simple to manage. And speaking of management, remote and branch sites can be centrally managed enabling customers to save costs by not having a dedicated IT specialist present at each location.
Aside from cost-effectiveness and centralized management, the HC-250 provides high availability of 99.999%. The HPE Hyper Converged 250 is the only certified vSphere Metro Storage Cluster (vMSC) hyper-converged solution and can withstand multiple drive failures, a server node failure, an appliance or rack failure, and an entire datacenter failure. If users are using Microsoft instead of VMware they can add cloud services for Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery for continuity.
