One thing the company has talked about previously but is out today with the TrueNAS SCALE Open Source HyperConverged Infrastructure (HCI) Platform. As previously announced – FreeNAS has been consolidated under the TrueNAS banner earlier this year – into three main offerings –
iXsystems has announced the TrueNAS R-Series storage solution that replaces the FreeNAS certified hardware and brings truly great things for those on a budget but demand performance and reliability. The R-Series can run any of the three versions of TrueNAS.
Hardware for the R-Series is broken down into 4 models – each well suited for any workgroup.
I, for one, am very excited to see the release of the Linux based TrueNAS SCALE. As we said previously, SCALE stands for Scale-out, Converged, Active-active, Linux containers, Easy-to-manage. The company quietly released this two weeks ago but is officially announcing it today. The company claims this HCI system to be a unique, easy to manage and scale-out HCI platform for converged compute and scale-out Open ZFS storage. SCALE is available as Open Source Debian-Linux based software or as an appliance-based solution and can operate from a single node while still being able to scale up and scale out to over 100 storage nodes with many additional compute-only nodes.
The move to ramp up TrueCommand into not only a local solution, but now a cloud offered solution, iXsystems has embraced Open Storage and has provided enterprise grade tools freely and openly for partner and community benefits. TrueCommand makes having a single pane of glass to quickly manage and visual end to end the health of your home lab to your enterprise freely and easily.
