The cloud journey over the last few years has been interesting to say the least. From the original reluctance to use the cloud, to going all in with the cloud, to the switch to hybrid cloud, to the present where multi-cloud seems to be the best of all worlds. There is still a large demand for on-prem data centers and private clouds. This is where SolidFire comes in. With its high-performant nature, SolidFire is a good choice for workloads that need to be kept in house due to regulatory reasons or those that just need more speed. SolidFire also offers several other benefits such as its ability to mix nodes within a cluster for scaling performance or capacity and the elimination of forklift upgrades.
SolidFire is powered by NetApp Element software. Up until now, Element software could be deployed on a pre-integrated NetApp hardware for SolidFire. As of today, users can leverage the new SolidFire Enterprise SDS Solution to put it on the hardware of their choice. This adds a new level of flexibility in both how the technology is deployed and used as well as how it is purchased, with NetApp offering its Keystone Flex Subscription, pay-as-you-grow.
NetApp SolidFire Enterprise SDS is available now as software-only on pre-validated hardware configurations
