MemVerge Big Memory Computing Introduced

Today MemVerge announced what it sees as the next big thing for in-memory computing, MemVerge Big Memory Computing. Big Memory Computing is being hailed as a new technology category that will allow all applications to run in memory versus a strict range of workloads. This new technology combines persistent memory hardware and memory machine software technologies.

Big Memory Computing is being hailed as a new technology category that will allow all applications to run in memory versus a strict range of workloads. This new technology combines persistent memory hardware and memory machine software technologies.

Memory is incredibly fast. If everything could run in memory, one performance bottleneck could be more or less eliminated. For many reasons that isn’t possible; but it doesn’t stop companies such as MemVerge from believing that all applications should be ran in memory. While everything can’t be running in DRAM, yet, the advent of persistent memory moves the world much closer to where everything can be running in memory. Persistent memory technology allows for the formation of petabyte-size pools of shared persistent memory.

On the software side, MemVerge Memory Machine software provides powerful data services such as ZeroIO Snapshot and memory replication that is designed for the big memory pools mentioned above. The software is said to be compatible with existing and future applications make futureproofing built in. This becomes even more important as new AI and ML workloads continue to emerge, giving users the ability to train and infer from AI/ML models faster, work with larger data sets in memory, complete more queries in less time and consistently replicate memory between servers. MemVerge also announced that it has secured $19 million in funding to enhance the development of its MemVerge’s Memory Machine software amongst other uses.

MemVerge is combining the above software with Intel Optane persistent memory will allow customers to better handle the anticipated surge on in-memory workloads. MemVerge that’s that it will be laying out a roadmap to achieve petabyte scale at nanosecond-speed. MemVerge Big Memory is set to bring memory-centric computing to the real world.

Availability

MemVerge Memory Machine software will be available to selected customers as part of the Early Access Program this quarter.
