Netgear has announced new business networking products at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), including the Orbi Pro WiFi 6 AX5400 Mesh System (SXK50) and the Ultra60 PoE++ Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switch (MS108EUP). Netgear’s SXK50 is specifically designed to provide SMBs with next-level coverage, speed, and security, while the MS108EUP is purpose-built for SMBs and home labs and as a companion to the WAX218, WAX610, and WAX630 wireless access points.
As working remotely continues to be the norm (in addition to the growing number of home-based businesses deploying networks beyond their intended use cases), these types of products are becoming more and more important. Reliability, performance, and security are the key features that Netgear’s new releases are trying to push, all of which are paramount in producing a more capable and consistent home network.
As such, the Orbi Pro SXK50 is equipped with the latest generation of WiFi 6 technology, sitting between the company’s SXK30 and flagship SXK80. It offers WiFi coverage and connection capacity with noticeably faster speeds than WiFi 5. Netgear also stresses that it has no dead zones and is available at an affordable price tag, the latter of which is perfect for home offices and smaller businesses with more limited budgets. Netgear indicates that the ideal applications for their new mesh system solutions include bed-and-breakfasts, professional services, and small education centers.
Compared to the previous generations, the Orbi Pro SXK50 can connect to 4x times the number of devices (i.e., 75 devices simultaneously) with up to 5,000 square feet of coverage. It also products triple the throughput and supports up to 5.4Gbps, making it ideal for video conference streaming as well as large file transfers and downloads.
Orbi Pro SXK50 also supports Netgear Insight Business VPN, an add-on service that allows the connection of multiple Orbi Pro routers. This creates a site-to-site or site-to-multisite VPN (that is also encrypted, trusted, and persistent) so that the main office has the same SSID as branch and home offices.
The Netgear MS108EUP multi-gig switch allows you to connect all your network devices at multi-gig speeds with no need to update existing cabling infrastructure. Devices will pick the speed they need and auto-adapt to 1G/2.5Gb ports.
It can also handle up to 60W per port, allowing you to power things like WiFi APs, IP Cameras, IP speakers, and LED lighting from a single switch. Its 230W PoE budget allows for an abundance of power for virtually all a business’ PoE devices.
Also announced is the Nighthawk RAXE300 Tri-band WiFi router. This solution combines 7.8Gbps WiFi speeds with the new 6GHz band, making it ideal for customers with WiFi 6E devices and bandwidth-heavy applications. This performance-driven router offers Gigabit+ WiFi speeds throughout homes with a coverage of up to 2,500 square feet.
Sporting a slick, modern design, the router’s elegant houses six pre-optimized antennas with a WiFi signal. It also comes equipped with a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, which allows it to offer Gigabit+ Internet connectivity via an Internet modem or LAN connectivity to a high bandwidth device such as shared network storage. There are an additional 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired connections to other home devices and IoT hubs.
The Netgear Orbi Pro WiFi 6 AX5400 Mesh System (including a router and satellite) is slated for a US release in January for $449.99.
The Netgear Ultra60 PoE++ Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switch is available now for $439.99.
The Netgear Nighthawk RAXE300 Tri-band WiFi 6E is scheduled to release during Q1 2022 for $399.99.
