Scality states that they have seen record earnings in the first half of this year with 62% year-over-year growth in revenue. The company has seen its blue-chip customer base grow (now including six of the top banks and seven of the top telecom operators in the world) and an expansion of partnerships including Veeam and HPE. AWS announced the general availability of new EBS io2 volumes. This volume type, io2, is the next generation Provisioned IOPS SSD volumes for Amazon Elastic Block Store. AWS claims these volumes will deliver 100x higher durability and 10x more IOPS-to-storage ratio at the same price of current comparable volumes.
Snowflake filed the registration statement for their initial public offering. They haven’t announced how many shares or the price of their stock. It will be traded on the NYSE under the symbol SNOW. Snowflack has been able to raise over $1.4 billion since 2014.
Canonical announced that it fully supports the latest release of Kubernetes, version 1.19. This covers Charmed Kubernetes, MicroK8s, and kubeadm. New benefits include:

KIOXIA announced that it is the first supplier of PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSDs to HPE. The new faster flash drives will be available on HPE ProLiant, HPE Synergy and HPE Apollo servers. We wrote an in-depth review of the new technology here and here.
EnGenius announced its Cloud-To-Go solution that is specifically aimed at smaller businesses such as coffee shops, clinics, stores, hospitality, and SOHO. This solution is contained in a mobile app giving these small businesses a way to manage networks even without an IT staff. Benefits include:
VAST Data is also reporting good numbers for 2020 with the company seeing second quarter year-over-year revenue growth of 490%. The company announced that former NetApp President and Vice Chairman Tom Mendoza joined VAST as the company’s first independent board member. Other key growth milestones:
Datadobi announced its DobiProtect that is said to create a ‘golden copy’ of their business-critical file and object data in its native format across heterogeneous systems. Customers can choose where they want to keep this golden copy (in a bunker site, in the cloud, or behind an air gap) and will be ready to come right back after an attack. Companies can restore in a granular fashion to any NAS or object storage of their choice.
Shortly after KubeCon EU and Kubernetes 1.19 release, Cloudian announced support for container-based applications via a new Cloudian Kubernetes S3 Operator, providing a self-service tool for developers to dynamically provision Cloudian HyperStore S3-compatible object storage. Benefits include:
