NVIDIA & NetApp Work To Simplify AI

NVIDIA and NetApp announced that they are working together to simplify and increase the speed of AI deployments. This expands other partnerships NetApp has gone into surrounding AI, including last year’s partnership with Run:AI and NetApp ONTAP AI. This go-round the two companies are combining both NetApp and NVIDIA hardware along with ONTAP AI software.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is thought by most to be the future of many companies. AI has such great promise but is complex in just about every way. While many companies have the budget for integrating AI, they lack the talent (as it is lacking in general) and ability to deploy something so complex into their infrastructure. An AI platform involves a multilayered stack of hardware and software. All of these need to be set up and maintained by teams that have had the training and understand it, which will involve new hires or new training (though keeping your team trained up on skills is probably always a good idea).

So now NVIDIA and NetApp are releasing an integrated solution that combines NetApp ONTAP AI with NVIDIA DGX A100 systems, NVIDIA networking, and NetApp All-Flash storage. Arrow Electronics swings in to provide the other pieces including:

• Single SKU per configuration
• Assembly and testing at Arrow’s integration center
• Pre-installation site survey to capture environment details
• Shipment to customer location, with onsite installation by Arrow’s Professional Services engineers

The above turnkey AI infrastructure solution is currently available in three configurations based on the size needed (also designed around common AI workload demands). These include small, medium, and large that add in more nodes of the NVIDIA DGX A100 and larger and larger NetApp arrays with higher capacity storage. Both companies point out that the new solution comes with top-notch support, in fact, it is stated as unified, centralized support led by the AI experts at NVIDIA.
