Today the US subsidiary of OVHcloud (OVHcloud US) announced the mouthful that is the OVHcloud Managed Bare Metal Essentials powered by VMware. The company states that this is a first of its kind, managed Bare metal infrastructure. On top of the infrastructure, the company upgraded its highly customizable bare metal servers and offered them with both AMD EPYC and Intel Gold CPU components with up to 1.5TB of RAM.

While StoragReview has only mentioned them in passing a few times, OVHcloud is a global cloud provider and has been cranking out different technologies over the last 21 years. OVHcloud manages 30 data centers across 12 sites on four continents. The company claims to specialize in delivering industry-leading performance and cost-effective solutions to better manage, secure, and scale data. Making its own gear, OVHcloud builds bare metal servers, hosted private cloud, hybrid and public cloud solutions and owns a 20Tbps global fiber backbone providing customers with network access at no cost.

According to the company, the main benefits of OVHcloud Managed Bare Metal Essentials is that: users that don’t have a need of the full suite of features available as part of our Hosted Private Cloud solutions to benefit from a pre-installed virtualization layer in a 100% dedicated and secure infrastructure environment in a predictable and cost-efficient way. User should be able to seamlessly and securely move data to the cloud for disaster recovery, datacenter extension, and datacenter replacement. Customers can move away from traditional on-prem hardware while maintaining access and control as though the data was still on site.

On the server side, OVHcloud is said to offer Scale and High-Grade servers starting January 2021. They claim the best price/quality ratio. The new servers are for use cases such as Software Defined Storage (SDS), Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI), Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), High Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (Ai & ML), and Cloud Gaming platforms.

Availability

OVHcloud Managed Bare Metal Essentials is expected to be available in mid-November.
