OWC PCIe SSD Teased

OWC is teasing a new PCIe SSD solution that leverages up to four of their Mercury Aura Pro Express 6G SSDs (or possibly a variation of the Express) tied together on a PCIe board by a Marvell 88SE9445 SATA RAID controller. The SSDs themselves use SandForce SF-2200 series processors and can be added to the board one at a time for expandable capacities from 60GB up to 2TB.

OWC released very little else on the upcoming product, but the clear benefit is the ability for the user to scale up the SSD modules as they like. With most other PCIe solutions, the individual SSDs aren’t able to be upgraded or swapped out. With the OWC PCIe solution, it’s easy to plug in SSDs at will from 60GB lower cost modules to 480GB high capacity SSDs. This solution also minimizes the space required and additional RAID card needed in a typical four SSD RAID scenario.

No pricing or projected release date have been announced.
