Pure Storage AIRI//S AI-Ready Infrastructure Announced

Pure Storage AIRI//S is the company’s next-generation AI-ready infrastructure. AIRI//S, jointly developed by Pure Storage and NVIDIA and built on NVIDIA DGX, will provide enterprises with a pre-validated, simple, on-demand infrastructure that accelerates AI initiatives at any scale.

The power of AI to speed innovation and gain a competitive edge across industries has been a driving force for enterprises to adopt this technology. Many AI initiatives are delayed while organizations roll out a new infrastructure needed to facilitate faster innovation and obtain actionable, modern analytics.

Addressing the complexities of the “do-it-yourself” approach to building out an AI infrastructure, Pure Storage, in collaboration with NVIDIA, launched AIRI in 2018, the first AI-ready infrastructure reference architecture, purpose-built to enable organizations to achieve improved utilization and uptime, and ultimately scale AI and data science investments with less complexity.

With the release of AIRI//S powered by NVIDIA DGX A100, NVIDIA end-to-end networking, including NVIDIA Spectrum, Pure announced the next step in providing enterprises with a proven, simple, and scalable AI infrastructure. The release is the first solution to include Pure’s FlashBlade//S to take on all stages of the AI data pipeline. FlashBlade//S delivers advancements in non-disruptive performance, density, power efficiency, and scale resulting in alignment to AI training performance and parallelism gains provided by the DGX system.

AIRI has supported hundreds of AI workloads for everything from startups to national security departments to multinational technology organizations and every other type of data-driven industry.

Benefits of AIRI//S include:

  • Ease of Use: AIRI//S can be set up, deployed, and managed quickly and seamlessly as an end-to-end pipeline solution. By removing the complexities and rigidity of typical infrastructures, AIRI//S can ensure that infrastructure teams remain focused and productive and spend more time delivering insights.
  • Performance at Any Scale: AIRI//S is optimized out-of-the-box to deliver multi-dimensional performance for all stages of the AI data pipeline and can scale storage, and AI compute capabilities providing organizations the flexibility to start the AI journey at any scale and grow as needed.
  • Agile AI Platform: As the AI data science landscape and customer requirements evolve, enterprises can adapt the AI infrastructure to speed time to competitive advantage with faster response to fluctuating market dynamics.
  • Sustainable, Efficient AI Infrastructure: AIRI//S is the first to include Pure Storage FlashBlade//S enabling a more powerful, high-performance AI infrastructure in the same footprint by delivering high-density, reduced power consumption, and efficiency.

Customers leveraging Evergreen//Forever (formerly Evergreen Gold) and Evergreen//One (formerly Pure-as-a-Service) can take advantage of both infrastructure and consumption-based storage subscriptions to manage their investments as the AI infrastructure grows.

Amy Fowler, Vice President, Strategy and Solutions, FlashBlade at Pure Storage, said:

“Traditional approaches to AI infrastructure often result in silos of servers and storage that are either over-spent on capacity or starve AI workloads. With a focus on simplicity and scalability, AIRI//S enables global enterprises to achieve better time to insights and make the most out of their data with AI. We’re incredibly excited to expand on our collaboration with NVIDIA to deliver the next-generation of AI-ready infrastructure.”

NVIDIA Magnum IO GPU Direct Storage support is planned for future updates. The FlashBlade//S architecture includes robust and modular hardware, making it easier to bring further innovation to the AIRI//S platform as AI requirements evolve.

Charlie Boyle, Vice President, DGX systems, NVIDIA, added:

“Enterprises are turning to AI to grow top-line results while enhancing customer experiences and reducing costs. These complex challenges require integrated, full-stack computing optimized for AI, and AIRI//S built on NVIDIA DGX systems provides customers with modular, high-performance enterprise infrastructure that scales easily as these demands continue to grow.”
