During the kickoff to Pure//Accelerate techfest22, Pure Storage announced they would bring the power of its Evergreen technology to the entire Pure portfolio with Evergreen//Flex, a new fleet-level Evergreen architecture. Evergreen//Flex unlocks and moves stranded storage capacity to where it is needed, delivering efficiency and expanding Pure’s portfolio of Evergreen-based subscription services.

The inflexible delivery of traditional storage has challenged organizations. Transforming from high costs, short technology refresh cycles, forklift upgrades, and storage repurchases that lead to unplanned downtime, high-risk data migration, and overall data storage complexity are labor-intensive and costly.

As global enterprises embrace flexible, consumption-based operating models, there is an increased investment in modern technologies and services that optimize for stronger value over time while prioritizing scalable outcomes. Pure is driving flexibility and efficiency across the industry to support customers in the journey, enabling enterprises to bring storage capacity where it is needed most.

Pure pioneered the subscription-based Evergreen Storage program in 2015, paving the way for a new era of IT ownership. Evergreen prioritizes cost efficiencies, a longer, sustainable technology lifecycle, and modernization without disruption. Since being launched, the program has delivered over ten thousand non-disruptive controller upgrades to more than three thousand customers. Recognizing the need for further flexibility and transparency across storage, Pure launched the first true consumption-based service model for storage, Pure as-a-Service, in 2018.

With strong customer demand for Pure’s Evergreen portfolio, its subscription services revenue made up 33 percent of total revenue, exceeding $738 million and representing 37 percent year-over-year growth in the fiscal year 2022.

Advancing its leadership in delivering Storage-as-a-Service (STaaS), Pure introduces Evergreen//Flex, a new hybrid consumption model, to the Evergreen portfolio.

The new Evergreen//Flex offerings include:

  • Evergreen//Forever (formerly Evergreen Gold): Evergreen//Forever offers organizations traditional appliance ownership with a subscription to software, ever-modern hardware, and world-class customer experience. The service ensures organizations get an always-modern infrastructure subscription to support a system that improves over time.
  • Evergreen//Flex: A new fleet-level Evergreen architecture, giving users a way of running storage efficiently while saving power. The architecture delivers flexibility and adaptability to move performance and stranded capacity to where data and applications need it most, with the security and control that comes with ownership.
  • Evergreen//One (formerly Pure as-a-Service): Evergreen//One offers organizations a true consumption-based service model for storage, flexibility, transparency, simplicity, and proactive monitoring non-disruptive upgrades while satisfying performance and usage SLAs. With this service, Pure takes on the responsibility of delivering storage where required, offering on-demand storage service with the flexibility of on-premises deployment.

According to Prakash Darji, General Manager, Digital Experience Business Unit for Pure Storage:

“The growth of our Evergreen portfolio is a testament to Pure’s commitment to uncomplicating data storage and meeting customers where they are in their transformation to embrace new consumption models. Further distinguished with the launch of Evergreen//Flex, Pure offers the broadest procurement flexibility and choice across the storage industry today. We’re incredibly excited to continue offering our customers the ability to achieve better outcomes with flexible, simple storage.”
