QNAP Systems has announced the release of their new enterprise-class 12Gbps SAS-enabled, 40GbE-ready TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series rackmount NAS, which are available in 24, 16, 15 and 12-bay models. The new rackmount NAS series is also compatible with the high-density 12Gbps SAS RAID expansion enclosures REXP-1620U-RP and REXP-1220U-RP. In addition, the TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP comes equipped with Qtier Technology, which drives Auto Tiering for optimal storage efficiency to help businesses reduce costs on expensive flash technology all the while still benefiting from its excellent application performance and lower TCO of storage.
The TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series has high scalability with support up to eight QNAP RAID expansion enclosures (REXP-1620U-RP and REXP-1220U-RP), giving it the ability to expand the total storage to over 1PB raw capacity. In addition, the QTS Storage Manager can be used to manage the entire NAS capacity and quickly create volume/LUN snapshot, which allows for easy backup, restoration and cloning functionality.
The TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series is also compatible with QNAP’s QTS 4.2, their latest version of the company’s operating system, providing users with a variety of virtualization applications. Features include:
The TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP series also comes with a plethora of business applications that are designed for enterprises and organizations looking to build a secure private cloud. Additionally, QNAP indicates that the TVS-ECx80U-SAS-RP features cross-platform file sharing for Windows, Mac, and Linux/UNIX users, which makes it an ideal centralized storage solution for organizations with a large number of users. QNAP adds that its support for Windows AD, LDAP directory services and Windows ACL helps to improve the efficiency of permission settings and can act as a domain controller for Windows. It also provides its users with handy backup solutions for Windows and Mac as well as disaster recovery solutions with RTRR, rsync and cloud storage backup.
Also included is the new Qsirch natural search feature, which allows users to quickly find NAS data using its powerful near real-time full-text search engine and Qsync. Also available is Q’center for centrally managing multiple QNAP NAS units and Gmail Backup for archiving important emails in the NAS.
