The Spinpoint M9T includes a SATA 6Gb/s interface and microactuation to ensure fast, consistent hard drive performance as well as NoiseGuard and SilentSeek technologies to deliver an ultra-quiet operation. Of course the real trick is how Samsung jammed 2TB into 9.5mm, where most vendors need 15mm to accomplish the same feat. In the case of the M9T it's because Samsung squeezed in an extra platter, leveraging three 667GB platters in their design.

Samsung M9T also in Portable Form Factors

Also shipping are the Samsung M3 Portable (17.5mm thin) and P3 Portable (14.8mm thin). The new portable drives are USB 3.0 compatible and will be available in 500GB, 1TB, 1.5TB, and 2TB capacities. The smaller options (1TB and lower) will be based on the M8 platform, the larger capacity drives feature the new M9T inside.

Availability

The Spinpoint M9T hard drive is currently available along with the M3 Portable and P3 Portable external drives.
